2023 Student Challenge
Interferometric Nanopositioning Challenge
The overall goal of the 10th Annual Student Challenge is to assemble and optimize a single axis nanopositioning stage with interferometric displacement feedback to demonstrate and improve its positioning performance. The teams are provided with a nominal system consisting of a 10 mm range air-bearing stage. The position of a corner cube (test object) attached to this stage is controlled using the interferometer feedback. Participants may utilize additionally provided sensors to their advantage, including the 78 nm resolution linear encoder built into the air-bearing stage, and a capacitance probe with a 50 µm range and 2 nm resolution.
