Distinguished University Professor and Arthur P Armington Professor of Engineering II; Director Advanced Manufacturing and Mechanical Reliability Center (AMMRC), Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH
John J. Lewandowski is a Distinguished University Professor and the Arthur P. Armington Professor of Engineering II at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU). He also serves as Director of the Advanced Manufacturing and Mechanical Reliability Center (AMMRC: https://ammrc.case.edu/). He earned B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) where he was a Co-op Engineer at the CHEVRON, USA Richmond Refinery conducting materials selection and failure analyses. M.E. and PhD were conducted at CMU on hydrogen embrittlement and fracture in steels as a Hertz Foundation Fellow. Prior to joining CWRU in 1986, he spent two years as a NATO/NSF Postdoctoral Fellow at Cambridge University working on fracture and fatigue of engineering materials with Prof. John F. Knott, FRS, OBE. Publications and presentations exceed 350 and 1085, respectively. Student and visiting scholar mentorship exceeds 100 (MS, PhD) and 50, respectively, in the areas of fracture and fatigue of engineering materials, including additively manufactured materials and structures. He teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses on Mechanical Behavior of Materials, Fracture of Materials, and Failure Analysis.
