GETTING TO CHARLOTTE

By Air
The airport that serves Charlotte, North Carolina is Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT).  CLT ​​​​is the sixth busiest airport in the world offering more than 140 nonstop destinations around the world. CLT sees more than 700 departures and landings each day, and is served by seven domestic carriers and three foreign flag carriers. By Amtrak Train
Amtrak provides daily passenger rail service on the North and South lines, which access most of the United States. Service includes the Carolinian/Piedmont train to New York, with stops in Raleigh, Richmond, Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Philadelphia. By Car
Charlotte’s highly efficient and growing Interstate highway system offers drivers convenient access to the city. Interstates I-77 and I-85 connect Charlotte to cities in the Northeast, Southwest and Midwest. Convenient I-40, less than one hour to the north, is an important east-west link, with coast-to-coast access. Directions to The Westin Charlotte.  The Westin Charlotte offers both self and valet parking at a rate of $20 – $30 per day.

GETTING FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE WESTIN CHARLOTTE

The Westin Charlotte is about 7 miles from the airport, and it does not have a shuttle service from the airport, so you will need to find ground transportation if you are flying into the city.  The hotel is located in Uptown Charlotte (local vernacular), which is also known as Center City Charlotte. So when you see references to Uptown Charlotte or City Center Charlotte or Downtown Charlotte, this is all generally in the same area – that is the city’s core.

Sprinter Bus
This hybrid-electric bus is an easy and affordable way to get from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to Center City, with stops in central locations. It runs every 20 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on nights and weekends. $2.20 each way. ridetransit.org

Crown Cab Company
Crown Cab Company operates an on-demand cab service at CLT at curbside on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim level (lower level outside Zone D).  Crown Cab Company is evaluated annually by CLT to ensure all taxis have a GPS system, credit card technology and adhere to guidelines set forth by CLT.​ Crown Cab Company operates a mobile app that allows users to book and track their rides on their phones. Its wheelchair accessible vehicles accommodate handicap users. Yellow Cab of Charlotte
Yellow Cab operates an on-demand cab service at CLT at curbside on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim level (lower level outside Zone D). Yellow Cab is evaluated annually by CLT to ensure all taxis have a GPS system, credit card technology and adhere to guidelines set forth by CLT. Yellow Cab of Charlotte offers handicap accessible vehicles. Its Taxi Magic mobile app allows users to book, track and pay for their rides on their phones. City Cab of Charlotte
City Cab operates an on-demand cab service at CLT at curbside on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim level (lower level outside Zone D). Green Cab of Charlotte
Green Cab operates an on-demand cab service at CLT at curbside on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim level (lower level outside Zone D). They will pick you up and take you directly to your destination- no carpooling around town to pick up other passengers like the shuttles. Uber and Lyft
Uber and Lyft services are available on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim level (lower level outside Zone D). Use the Uber or Lyft mobile app to request a ride and pay via your phone or your credit card number on file. Rides are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Shuttle Services
As mentioned earlier, The Westin Charlotte does not have a shuttle.  There is not a curbside shared shuttle service at CLT.  Shuttle Services are available by pre-arrangement only. Find the shuttle that best serves your time and needs here.

A Friend or Colleague
Take the time to visit with friends and colleagues! If you know someone in the area, call them to pick you up from the airport and take them out to dinner to visit, and then have them drop you off at The Westin Charlotte.

Light Rail Service
While Charlotte boasts North Carolina’s first rapid rail system, it is still in its early building stages, therefore it does not currently offer service from the airport to city center Charlotte. However, it is a great option for getting around in uptown/downtown/center city Charlotte.

GETTING AROUND CHARLOTTE

LYNX Blue Line Light Rail
North Carolina’s first rapid-rail system connects South Charlotte to Center City, running along 15 stations. On weekdays, the line is available every 10 minutes during rush hour and every 15 minutes during non-peak hours. Weekend service operates every 20 minutes during the day and every 30 minutes during late-night hours. $2.20 each way. ridetransit.org

Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) Bus Service
With more than 70 routes across the city and county, CATS buses serve more than 25 million passengers each year. Most operate from 4:49 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 5:25 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Sundays. $2.20 each way; $3 each way for Express Routes; children under 5 ride free; seniors and youth 5-12 ride for $1. ridetransit.org

Gold Rush Red Line
These rubber-wheel trolley cars, reminiscent of historic streetcars, connect passengers to Center City and the LYNX Blue Line. It operates every 15 minutes Monday through Friday between 6:40 a.m. and 6 p.m. Free. ridetransit.org

The CityLYNX Gold Line
This streetcar system connects neighborhoods to businesses and educational facilities, including Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, Central Piedmont Community College and the Charlotte Transportation Center, through six stations. R & R Pedicab Company
The pedal-powered pedestrian taxi service offers service to any location within the Interstate 277 loop, plus the South End area, spanning as far as East Boulevard and West Boulevard. $5 per person for first six blocks, then $1 per person for each additional block. 704.786.6549 | rrpedicabcompany.com
