Credits: Video and original work from (Cylo’s Garage): Adventures in Machining Sound

The 2025 ASPE Student Challenge project introduces students to the nexus where the worlds of precision machining and the music industry meet. Using precision air bearing spindles and diamond cutting tools, students will learn to cut their own mono ‘vinyl’ record. This challenge targets learning outcomes in precision machining, noise damping, and precision control.

  • October xx, 2025: ( 11:00 AM – 01:00 PM PST): Preliminary Presentation.
  • November xx, 2025:( 06:00 PM – 11:59 PM PST): Competition at the conference.
  • November xx, 2025: ( Noon – 01:30 PM PST): Presentations at the conference.
