This topic was inspired by Adventures in Machining sound by Cylo’s Garage.

World of precision engineering and music meets at the 2025 ASPE student challenge. Using precision air-bearing spindles and diamond cutting tools, students will gain hands-on experience in cutting their own music record on acrylic. This challenge is designed to develop hands-on skills and deepen understanding in precision machining, noise damping, and precision control.


Calendar:

  • September 22, 2025: Challenge begins.
  • October 17, 2025: ( 11:00 AM – 01:00 PM PST): Preliminary Presentation.
  • October 31, 2025: ( 11:59 PM Local Time): Final Report Submission.
  • November 03, 2025:( 06:00 PM – 11:59 PM Local Time): Competition at the conference.
  • November 05, 2025: ( Noon – 01:30 PM Local Time): Presentations at the conference.
