ASPE continued the tradition of advancing the future of precision engineering with its 28th Annual Meeting from October 20 – 25, 2013 at the Crowne Plaza St. Paul – Riverfront in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul provide a fitting backdrop for the Meeting as the metropolitan area is a leader in many established and growing technology sectors. World-renowned micro and nano manufacturing and technology companies that are in the Twin Cities include 3M, Medtronic, Boston Scientific, Seagate Technology, and Hutchinson Technology to name just a few. With ample networking opportunities, the Annual Meeting featured a balanced program combining tutorials, scientific talks, poster presentations, technical tours, commercial exhibits, an awards luncheon and the annual dinner.    Visit the 28th ASPE Annual Meeting photo gallery and Best Paper Announcements.

ASPE was pleased to welcome Dr. Olester Benson, Corporate Scientist, 3M Company as its 2013 keynote speaker.  3M is a diversified manufacturer generating $30 billion dollars in sales of products defined by its five major business groups: Consumer, Electronics/Energy, Health Care, Industrial and Safety/Graphics.  3M maximizes its precision engineering infrastructure by designing machine tools and production equipment that combine finely controlled processes with the economic efficiencies of roll-to-roll manufacturing.   The result: 3M’s performance continues to improve, and product tolerances become smaller and smaller – now on the order of half a wavelength of light for some products.  Examples from 3M’s product portfolio were be used to highlight the challenges and contributions made by its engineers enabling continual technological advancements.

The members of ASPE cordially invite you to attend this year’s Meeting.  We are looking forward to seeing you in St. Paul!
