The American Society for Precision Engineering’s 25th Annual Meeting and Conference was held in Atlanta, GA, USA from October 31 – November 4, 2010 at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center. Many recreational and cultural pursuits were available in this spectacular city including the Centennial Olympic Park, Georgia Aquarium, Georgia Dome and the Luckie Marietta District, Atlanta’s downtown entertainment hub.

As the premier precision engineering conference in the US, 2010’s conference continued the tradition of offering the latest in precision engineering research through presentations from national and international speakers alike. Over 135 oral and poster presentations were delivered on topics ranging from ultra-precision machining to advances in metrology. Participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas with internationally renowned experts in the field and representatives from tool manufacturers, suppliers, and research institutions who were showcasing their products and services in the exhibition hall.

ASPE was honored to have Bryan G. Dods, Manufacturing Technology Leader with General Electric Energy as our Keynote Speaker. His talk, “Precision Manufacturing in a Global Supply Chain,” on Monday launched our theme of enabling manufacturing’s future.

Participants also heard about the latest products available to the industry and discussed open issues in the Commercial Session on Tuesday afternoon. Companies were invited to have literature and graphics on hand for a brief (five minute) presentation to show off their products and services. During lunch on Thursday, meeting attendees were also invited to make short presentations during the Open Forum on open topics and technical experiences.

As always, the commercial exhibits served as the backdrop for refreshment breaks and hospitality hours and provided the opportunity to see precision products first hand and to talk to the technical sales and engineering representatives. As in previous years, a lounge area was available for informal gatherings and discussions.

The 2010 ASPE Annual Meeting presented another unique opportunity to develop relationships and foster collaborations within the precision engineering community.  Take a look below at some of the things ASPE had to offer at its 25th Annual Meeting.
