Scholarship Application for the 2012 ASPE Annual Meeting

The American Society for Precision Engineering will be offering up to two scholarship grants to help students to defray the costs of participating in the 2012 ASPE Annual Meeting.  The Scholarship Application can be downloaded by clicking on this link.

This award will include the waiver of the conference registration and tutorial fees, and will provide $1,000 towards travel, hotel, and meal expenses.  The recipient’s university would be responsible for covering the remaining expenditures.

Applications will be reviewed by a eight-member Education Scholarship Committee.  Criteria used in selecting each recipient include:

  • The canidate must be pursuing a masters or doctoral thesis at an accredited university and must be a full-time student at the time of the 2012 Annual Meeting.
  • The completed “ASPE Scholarship Grant Application” form.
  • The “Statement of Career Goals” and “Summary of Research” forms.
  • A two-page (Maximum) .pdf abstract of a paper for the ASPE Annual Meeting.
  • The completed “Reference Report” form and a letter of reference by the student’s thesis advisor.

In addition, the Conference Organizing Committee must deem the student’s work of sufficient quality to merit an oral or poster presentation.  The successful applicant will be expected to present the paper at the 2012 Annual Meeting in either of these two forms.

The selected recipients will be notified of their grant awards around May 1, 2012.  If candidates of sufficient quality are not available, the Committee may decide to offer one or none of the scholarships.

To allow the Education Scholarship Committee adequate time to consider the application, it must be received in this office together with the short abstract (which is submitted on-line) as soon as possible, but no later than March 15, 2012.

Sincerely,

Education Scholarship Committee
