Senior Mechanical Engineer

Hummingbird Scientific is a rapidly growing research, design and manufacturing group offering innovative products and solutions for electron and ion microscopy applications. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you would work closely with our engineering staff and clients in academia and industry to develop next-generation microscopy tools.

Hummingbird Scientific is seeking a Senior Engineer with 8-15 years of experience and an MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering. Responsibilities include design of high precision mechanisms and management of multiple projects. Strong communication skills are required as we work with a diverse range of clients and vendors.

An ideal candidate will have a background in designing precision mechanisms and vacuum devices, strong 3D CAD and FEA skills, a familiarity with programming microprocessors and/or PCs, and experience writing grants or proposals.

We are particularly interested in people who can take a “big picture” view, identifying problems and taking a detailed and thorough approach to building solutions.
